AA is an abbreviation of ‘auto attacks’, the basic or default non-spell attacks made by a hero character. Some characters are optimized for AA, such as Valla in Heroes of the Storm. AA hero characters are often strong against enemies with high spell defense, because basic auto attack damage is not reduced by spell shields or spell armor. AA heroes are also therefore less reliant upon maintaining high mana availability, because AA cost no energy to use and are only constrained by range and attack speed.
